What To Do In The Event Of A Car Accident – Are There Injuries?

  • Try and stay as calm as possible
  • Turn off your engine, and put on your Hazard Lights
  • Do not move injured persons, unless they are in immediate physical danger.
  • Keep clear of the accident site
  • Call 000

If There Are No Injuries

  • If vehicles are blocking traffic, try and move them to a safe area if possible.
  • If there is damage to property or a parked car where the owner is not present, notify police.
  • Do not admit liability- let your insurance company take care of these decisions.
  • Get the following details from other drivers:
  • Name, Address, Phone Numbers, License Numbers, Insurer, Make and Model of vehicle.
  • Take photos of the site if possible, and note the positions of vehicles as well as the time of accident and the weather conditions.
  • If there are witnesses to the accident, request their name, phone number and address.
  • If your vehicle is not drivable, call a 13 11 76 and a tow truck will be allocated to you.
  • You may take your vehicle to your preferred repairer.
  • Call Midland Insurance as soon as possible to lodge a claim and if you have any further questions- we are here to help.
